Purpose of the Overseas Community Service Project and Twinning Programme
• To forge friendships and strengthen LEO spirit with overseas Leo Club
• To gain a wider and more perspective view of the less fortunate.
• Provide our Leos with the opportunity to learn about other countries volunteering scene
• Provide our Leos with the opportunity to learn from an overseas club and its culture
• Create and foster a spirit of understanding among people of the world

We will be working with Children’s Protection Society (a children shelter).
What we intend to do is that: (depending approval from the shelter)

Firstly, we would collect story books, school books, etc. before the project. We would bring the books over with us and donate it to the shelter. We want to go there and let the child have a wonderful and enjoyable day, but that is only our secondary objective, our main objective is to pass on some basic communication and educational skills to them. We also hope to pass on to this children our volunteerism spirit, so that in future, it will be their turn to help other children in risk. We hope to achieve that by teaching them as much as we can with the books and with our interaction with them.

Secondly, we would be involve in beautifying their living condition. We would be doing some repairs to broken wall, give the shelter a new colour, Craft works with the children (as we want the children to feel attach, so we would get them involve in making their shelter more beautiful), Cleaning of the shelter, gardening work.

Thirdly, we will also be assisting in the children’s hair cut and to further create a bond with the children, we would be cooking and dinning with the children.

Lastly, to mark a beautiful end to this Joint Project, we would be putting up a performance for the children to enjoy.

We hope to create a fun, inspiring and memorable experience for these children.

We are helping to raise funds for the Lions Home for the Elders (LHE), by being part of their “Ah Gong Ah Ma Project”. We will be setting up a booth and do publicity within the school.

Purpose for Fund Raising:
The Ah Gong Ah Ma Project was started in 2004 by Lions Home for Elders to encourage family bonding. Chopsticks of different packaging are sold, and all funds raised will go directly to Lions Home.

LCS Amber, LCS Goodwood and LCS Stamford. It is sponsored by Crust
Gourmet Pizza Bar, Australia’s leading gourmet pizza bar.

Our task will be to sell “pizza” tickets to the public. Every ticket costs $20
out of which $15 will go to our Lions Home For The Elderly and Lions
Befrienders Service Association.

The public can use this $20 ticket to redeem a 13” x 8” pizza of their choice
at Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar (34B Lorong Mambong, Holland Village).

Lions Joint Flag Day

Basically, Lions Club of Singapore is managing TWO aged homes (providing 24hrs medical and nursing care), Lions Home for the Elders in Toa Payoh and Bedok.

Lions also managed the Befriending and Outreach programmes to about 2200 seniors above the age of 65years who have no family support and to over 1100 trained Befrienders.And they need a tidy sum of over 7 million Dollars to manage both the programmes. And their target for this annual flag day is to raise $300,000.

SP Journey of Youth Olympic Flame

The YOG torch will be coming to SP's grounds and there will be a huge fanfare leading to the light up of the cauldron at SP Plaza.

Venue: SP (Gate 8 all the way to Auditorium)

Date: 12 August 2010

Time: 5pm - 9pm

The Olympic Torch is coming to SP through Gate 8, pass the car park, pass T11, T12 and into the Plaza area outside the Auditorium.

We need to form a welcome party along the sides of the road.

You may do anything you wish to jazz up the event. Be creative ! For example, you can hold a banner that says "Leo Club welcomes the Olympic Flame to Singapore Poly", or dress up in our lion mascots and dance, or play some musical instrument.

The idea is to make the whole event like a carnival.

The whole route is 600metres long, and we need 2,400 students to be part of the welcome party.

Once the Olympic Torch passes you, you then join the back of the convoy and follow them to the Plaza area.

Participants receive a goodie bag which consists of a t-shirt, poncho, food vouchers etc.

MacDonalds and Coca Cola will be sponsoring food and drinks.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The YOG will probably not come to Singapore for the rest of your lives. Be part of it and have fun.

Sch of DMIT has organised an event to teach the elderly how to use a computer!

and the Heart Cluster clubs have been assigned to take up 21 Sep, Tuesday.

You'll be at the computer labs to help the folks if they require assistance with the computers. Some of these senior citizens have zero knowledge and you'd be a great help.

Project Espoir: 100 Hearts, is a community service project organized by Bukit Timah CC Youth Club (YC), which is under the jurisdiction of People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM).

In Project Espoir: 100 Hearts, we will be bringing 100 selected children from Club Rainbow to the Singapore Science Centre. They will be visiting the Pixar exhibition where they will go behind the scene of the animations, exploring the art and technology behind 20 years of cutting-edge animation. After which, these children will enjoy a 3D movie experience by Pixar Animation, and take a tour around science centre. There will also be a drawing competition conducted for the children in which they can draw their favourite pixar character.

Espoir is Hope in French, and through this project, we aim to be able to bring hope to the less-privileged children from Club Rainbow who fall into three illness groups – those who suffer from Heart related problems, Blood disorders and Liver Disorder ailments. Due to their conditions, these children are unable to work or play like any normal child and many of these children are not expected to live past the age of 20. Hence, we would like to ease their pain as much as possible and let these children enjoy whatever they can of their childhood.

There will be a briefing conducted on 25th June 2010 (Friday evening) to prepare the volunteers on what they are suppose to do on the actual day itself.

There is only 10 slots avaliable. And will be first come first serve method for the slots.

GOH, Mr Gerard Ee will be down to give a talk on "Community Service" and they hope that this message will help to bring out to all people what is community service all about and their importance. The main highlight of the seminar is that they hope to do a Community Service project with us. The SG Cares “Leadership with a Heart” Program is designed based on the concept of Servant Leadership. It aims to instil in our youths and students a heartbeat for the people they are to lead, and the society at large.

The 12 hours program consists of the mainly 3 phases; Soft skills training (classroom-based), shadowing and leading two activities.

Benefits for attending the Program:

• Students get to gain a different perspective of life and society given the interactions with the beneficiaries and Volunteer Host Organisations (VHOs).

• Students get to have real-life experiences in leading groups with followers that may be of higher seniority both in age and job positions.

• Students get to receive a NVPC certificate for the 12-hours training program.

NUS C.A.N Project

Hi Leos, the NUS C.A.N Project is back!

True to its title, it is a special project that urges a Collection in Aid of the Needy. Started in 2004, this is the 7th year the club will be undertaking the project.

Event Date: 17th July 2010

The project will collect canned goods from the public, generating publicity for the event through drives organised in HDB estates. The public will also be encouraged to buy and donate canned food through another drive held in the participating supermarket. These canned food will then be given to beneficiaries, like the elderly and people from the lower income group, who need assistance in fulfilling their basic necessity needs. In addition, Project C.A.N. VII hopes to continue to create and maintain these social connections within our society.

The Leo committee will be going! And We hope that all Leos will join us too!

MY Clean & Paint With Love (Project Love) is back again this year!

This is a VERY VERY meaningful event!

as the title suggested, we are cleaning and painting.

Event date is on Saturday, 17 April

I participated in it last year, and i thought that this event will really be a life changer for the person/family we are helping.

not only will they be able to have a cleaner environment to leave in, they will also be given basic necessities that they lack of. all this are given by the sponsors of the event!

Here is a brief programme for information:-

8am - Arrival, registration and collection of event T-shirts for all participants.
9.35am - Record-breaking "human" formation of palm shape
10am - March-to-aid (brisk walk to Telok Blangah Drive and back to VivoCity)
11am - Disperse and head towards respective community service location

For the community projects, we will be assist to do cleaning for five (5) needy/low income familes in Hong Kah Division. Address should be provided by this Friday.

Hey all! WE ARE BACK.

Actually, we've been here all this time, but SOMEBODY had to make a silly suggestion to defect to cca.sg, which, well, turned out to be more restrictive than we had hoped.

Naturally, we felt that was a total waste of time, and here we are once again. =)

Starting from scratch (the 2nd...or is it 3rd?) time over is a pain, but bear with us. Hope you'll find this page helpful, and thanks for visiting.

In the meantime, I'll set a site rebuilding percentage. :P

I've also uploaded some pictures, so check out the sidebar!
