Each participating Leo will be given a ticket worth $20.00.

“To Crust Pizza With Love” is a fund raising project organised by LCS East,
LCS Amber, LCS Goodwood and LCS Stamford. It is sponsored by Crust
Gourmet Pizza Bar, Australia’s leading gourmet pizza bar.

Our task will be to sell “pizza” tickets to the public. Every ticket costs $20
out of which $15 will go to our Lions Home For The Elderly and Lions
Befrienders Service Association.

The public can use this $20 ticket to redeem a 13” x 8” pizza of their choice
at Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar (34B Lorong Mambong, Holland Village).
In addition, they will receive a Free Starter with any order over $25.

Heal the Earth 2010‏

We are volunteering in the following event - Heal The Earth 2010,

Details are as followed:
Date: 18th December 2010, Saturday
Time: 9am - 5pm
Venue: Padang

Some duties include:
- Packing of goodie bags
- Ushers during the human logo formation
- Collection of admission tickets and tearing of ticket studs
- Distributing of goodie bags
- Logistical support
- Packing up after the event

All volunteers will be given a free event tee shirt, goodie bag as well as certificate of appreciation.
We hope you can show your support for this worthy green event as this event is after the exams

SP LEO presents: Project Collection II

Leo Club of Singapore Polytechnic would be organizing our annual collection project,

We would be collecting newspaper, clothings, small electronic items, etc.

This year, all funds raise will be donated to Lions Befrienders.

"Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore) aims to provide social, psycho-emotional and physical support to our lonely seniors in the community. Lions Befrienders are continually reaching out to about 1,700 lonely seniors all over Singapore today, through its engaging activities and weekly visitations to enhance our seniors’ quality of life."

In lieu of World Mental Health Day SP LEO & NP LEO has organized a visit to Institute of Mental Health to raise awareness & fight the stigma against mental health patients

Young Changemakers Conference

National Youth Council is organising the 2nd Young Changemakers Conference on 23 to 24 October 2010, and are calling for student participation from IHLs.

Participants should have a keen interest in serving the community, and must be between 15-20 years old as of 31 Dec 2010.

The 2-day Conference, held at Republic Poly, will consist of the following components:

1) Keynote speeches

2) Workshops - choice of 'Environmentalism', 'Community Development', 'Elderly', 'Disadvantaged', 'Migrant Workers', 'Ex-offenders Support', 'Food redistribution', 'Mental Health', 'Animal Welfare', 'Children'

3) Brainstorming sessions - to come up with project ideas

4) Service-Learning Activities

5) Project Assessment Sessions

Lions Joint Flag Day

Please take note of the following Changes,

A fundraising project to raise funds for Lions Home for the Elders and Lions Befrienders

Event date: August 21, 2010 ( Saturday) - During the holidays

Time: 9am - 1pm / 1pm - 5pm

Collection Center: SP, T18 / Dover MRT Station (TBA)

Collection Area: includes Dover and Clementi (might have more)

All members are encourage to join

All Funds Raised will be to benefit Lions Home for the Elders and Lions Befrienders Service

Basically, Lions Club of Singapore is managing TWO aged homes (providing 24hrs medical and nursing care), Lions Home for the Elders in Toa Payoh and Bedok.

Lions also managed the Befriending and Outreach programmes to about 2200 seniors above the age of 65years who have no family support and to over 1100 trained Befrienders.And they need a tidy sum of over 7 million Dollars to manage both the programmes. And their target for this annual flag day is to raise $300,000.

SP Journey of Youth Olympic Flame

The YOG torch will be coming to SP's grounds and there will be a huge fanfare leading to the light up of the cauldron at SP Plaza.

Venue: SP (Gate 8 all the way to Auditorium)

Date: 12 August 2010

Time: 5pm - 9pm

The Olympic Torch is coming to SP through Gate 8, pass the car park, pass T11, T12 and into the Plaza area outside the Auditorium.

We need to form a welcome party along the sides of the road.

You may do anything you wish to jazz up the event. Be creative ! For example, you can hold a banner that says "Leo Club welcomes the Olympic Flame to Singapore Poly", or dress up in our lion mascots and dance, or play some musical instrument.

The idea is to make the whole event like a carnival.

The whole route is 600metres long, and we need 2,400 students to be part of the welcome party.

Once the Olympic Torch passes you, you then join the back of the convoy and follow them to the Plaza area.

Participants receive a goodie bag which consists of a t-shirt, poncho, food vouchers etc.

MacDonalds and Coca Cola will be sponsoring food and drinks.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The YOG will probably not come to Singapore for the rest of your lives. Be part of it and have fun.

Teaching IT Skills to Elderly :)

Ever thought of being a teacher? here's your chance now!

Sch of DMIT has organised an event to teach the elderly how to use a computer!

and the Heart Cluster clubs have been assigned to take up 21 Sep, Tuesday.

You'll be at the computer labs to help the folks if they require assistance with the computers. Some of these senior citizens have zero knowledge and you'd be a great help.

*Refreshments/Lunch will be provided.

**A briefing session will take place on first week of September.

***CCA pts will be awarded.
